Full of foraging ideas.

We are proud to announce the release of an innovative DVD that is destined to change the way caretakers view their captive birds.

Based on the model of the natural foraging instinct of all animals, author and videographer Dr. Scott Echols introduces the concept of including a foraging tree in a bird#s enclosure for environmental enrichment.

The 30-minute video describes how a foraging tree can potentially reduce the incidence of unwanted behaviours in captive birds.

Also included are step-by-step directions on how to use a foraging tree as well as safe foraging toys for birds. A separate Special Feature details scientific information about the bird species included in the program.

Dr. Echols is well known in the avian veterinary and aviculture communities. A graduate of Texas A&M University, he is the 2006-2007 president-elect of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, is an editorial reviewer for the Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery, and functions as application reviewer and contributor to examination questions for the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.

He is a prolific author and a frequent speaker at international conferences. Dr. Echols has also created numerous educational digital videos and is an accomplished wildlife artist.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to qualified avian research projects selected by the author.

2 hours of Avian entertainment!

Now you never need to leave your bird alone again. This 2 hour DVD features changing avian scenes to hold your birds attention and can be used on single or continuous play.

Selected from over 70 hours of footage shot over a period of three years, this DVD brings you closer than ever before to the lives of wild Amazon Parrots as they live, love, laugh and grow. You`ll go down a hollow tree into the nest and watch as parents care for their chicks. You`ll come to know them and the animals and birds that share their environment on the Gulf Coast of Mexico. And you`ll help to continue the research into their lives and languages.

The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill is the true story of a Bohemian St. Francis and his remarkable relationship with a flock of wild green-and-red Parrots.

Mark Bittner, a homeless street musician in San Francisco, falls in with the flock as he searches for meaning in his life, unaware that the wild Parrots will bring him everything he needs.

Although he is no scientist and this is not a "nature film," Mark becomes something of an expert himself as he consults local birders, and as he feeds, names, studies, and protects the Cherry-Headed Conures - escaped pets who have begun to breed in the wilds of the city.

The film celebrates urban wildness - Bohemian and avian - and links the Parrots` antics to human behavior. A surprise ending ties the themes together and completes Mark`s search for meaning
